Our Story

Founded by Oliver Threlfall, the Steamatic Group began as a modest carpet cleaning business. In 1986, Threlfall expanded his vision by integrating Steamatic Inc (USA) into his operations, establishing Steamatic Australia. Under his leadership, the company grew into the largest restoration organisation in the country, with over 40 locations and a workforce of more than 500 employees. Today, Steamatic Australia manages over 30,000 insurance claims annually and is recognised for introducing advanced restoration technologies, including the largest freeze dryers in the southern hemisphere, high-capacity desiccant dehumidifiers, and industrial-grade laser cleaners.

Two years ago, Oliver Threlfall passed the CEO role to his middle son, Will Threlfall, who now oversees the group’s day-to-day operations. His eldest son, Dan Threlfall, launched Steamatic Global Recovery (SGR) in [insert year], after identifying a critical gap in the market for dedicated large and complex loss management within Australia and internationally. Drawing on his years of experience at Steamatic and leveraging his deep expertise in disaster recovery, Dan established SGR with a focus on catastrophe-scale response and sophisticated project management.

SGR quickly distinguished itself by delivering coordinated, scalable recovery solutions for high-stakes environments—from major infrastructure damage and commercial losses to multi-site disasters. Its growth has been powered by a combination of technical capability, logistical precision, and a deep understanding of insurer and stakeholder requirements.

The youngest of the Threlfall brothers, Ben Threlfall, heads Precision Laser Cleaning, a fast-growing division specialising in advanced, chemical-free surface cleaning technology.

Together, the Threlfall brothers continue to expand the group’s legacy, building a multi-division powerhouse positioned at the forefront of restoration, recovery, and industrial cleaning services.
